Abstract

The relationship of the babies with their parents provides the basis for the development of self-confidence, security, emotional stability, willingness to learn, which is the basis for the development of capacities for self-regulation. The birth of a premature baby can bring interference to the expected development of interactive skills of the mother and baby. Premature infants tend to show behavioral cues that are difficult to understand or have difficulty showing signs of interaction. Permeating this hyphotesis of risk for change in mother-infant and child development, the aim of the study is to verify the quality of interaction in the mother-infant dyad and the processes of self-regulation and analyze the course of the development of gross motor skills, fine motor-adaptive, personal-social and language, and typical of premature babies. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee on Research with Human Beings (CAE: 27875614.3.0000.5417). A hundred mother-infant dyads (50 preterm and 50 typical) will be studied. The family anamnesis answer a protocol containing information about the early life of the child. The evaluations will be taken at birth, at three and nine months, through the instruments Child-Adult Relationship Experimental Index, Face to Face Still-Face and Screnning Denver Development Test - II. For the analysis procedures will be followed the expected values in the manuals of each instrument. Evaluations will be videotaped for later analysis. The statistical treatment will consist of descriptive measures and application of the following tests: the "t" test; "T" test and paired Spearman Correlation Coefficient. (AU)
