Abstract
We shall study hydrodynamics in codimension one spacetimes, from the point of view of an effective theory describing black strings perturbations, in the limit of long wavelength. We shall investigate elastic properties of the corresponding system, that is constituted by a fluid membrane. Hydrodynamic effects associated to black strings are going to be studied in the context of the fluid/gravity correspondence, in particular in the context variable tension brane-world models provided, in particular, by the so called E\"otv\"os brane-world models. We shall study black strings and generalizations, relating fluids flow and black strings dynamics, from the duality between fluid vorticity and gravitation. Generalized black strings perturbations shall be analyzed, by using the Gregory-Laflamme well-established procedure, in the context of the fluid/gravity correspondence. {Black strings shall be approached and studied by providing a relativistic generalization of the elasticity theory for membranes, when bending and additional spin effects are taken into account. The dipole contribution for the effective distribution of the tension induced by the bending of realistic black strings shall be studied, thus obtaining metrics for the respective underlying spacetimes. Moreover, the relativistic generalization of the Young's modulus as well as the elastic response of black strings shall be approached. In a dual approach, we shall analyse the black strings final states under perturbations in the Gregory-Laflamme procedure, and further possible analogies with the Plateau-Rayleigh phenomenon in fluid dynamics shall be investigated.Finally we shall study some additional consequences, regarding fermionic aspects of the fluid/gravity correspondence, in the context already developed by the Researcher of this project.
