Abstract

Currently, in-office tooth bleaching is carried out with highly concentrated peroxide in order to improve smile aesthetics of the patient. This can lead to significant penetration of the peroxide in the pulp tissue, fact associated with tooth sensitivity due to pulp changes. To minimize such effects, bleaching agents with desensitizing in its composition has been used. The aim of this study will be to evaluate the influence of these bleaching agents in the inflammation and the expression of neuropeptides using histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis. For this purpose, 72 rats will be divided into three groups according to the bleaching agent used in the right maxilla: GI- 35% hydrogen peroxide (35% Whiteness HP Maxx - FGM), GII- hydrogen peroxide to 38% associated the potassium nitrate and fluoride (Opalescence 38% PF Boost - Ultradent) and GIII- hydrogen peroxide 35% associated with potassium nitrate (35% Pola Office - SDI). All groups will have the placebo bleaching treatment performed in the left maxila (control). After the euthanasia of animals, the maxilla will be processed for the immunohistochemical analysis is carried out by indirect immunofluorescence and the slides analyzed using a confocal laser scanning microscope (LSM 5110, Zeiss, Oberkochen, Germany). Histopathological analysis of the slides will be performed using the optical microscope (DM 4000 B, Leica® type, Germany). The data will be submitted to the most appropriate statistical analysis at 5% level of significance. (AU)
