Abstract Virtual learning objects can provide teaching/learning more flexible, attractive, interactive and collaborative. The developed virtual learning object Semiotics and Semiology of the Preterm Newborn presents advanced, computerized, and interactive technology with simulations that allow the approximation to reality, gradually presenting the complexities and specificities of premature. It was considered by experts and students as appropriate regarding the content and functionality, which motivated the incorporation of emotional aspects in such object from the affective experiences of students in user-product interaction. The inclusion of the emotional design perspective reflects current and innovative trends of cybernetics. Thus, this project aims to improve the virtual learning object with the incorporation of emotional design, and evaluate the impact of its use on the emotions of Brazilian and Portuguese nursing students. This is a multicenter, descriptive and exploratory study. The project will be developed in four stages. The first stage is a systematic review of literature about the scales and emotion assessment tools, from which the evaluation instrument will be structured to be used in the next stage. The second stage consisted of making a diagnosis on the emotional aspects which are going to be incorporated into the virtual object through the application of the instrument developed in the first stage to nursing students from University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing, (EERP-USP), Brazil, and the Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC), Portugal. During the navigation of each module of the virtual object, the student will click on the option of choice that best describes his/her feeling and emotion at that moment and give suggestions. His/her responses will be sent automatically to the database of the virtual object. After processing the data, the virtual object will be improved, based on emotional design. This is the third stage of the project that there will be a simulated environment in which the user can enter in a neonatal unit and experience the clinical evaluation in the virtual preterm and learn about his/her reactivity during this procedure. The fifth stage consisted of the evaluation of the impact of this improved virtual object on the teaching-learning process of Brazilian and Portuguese nursing students, through a multicenter collaborative study. During the post-doctoral internship, the first, second and third stages will be accomplished, concluding with the improvement of the virtual object of learning. The higher education institution chosen to develop the internship provides experts in emotional aspects related to training nurses, besides having advanced technology such as next generation simulators for neonatal nursing care. After that, the sixth and last stage will be the evaluation done by Brazilian and Portuguese students through a multicenter collaborative study. (AU) | |
