Abstract

The objective is to assess the impact of the weather conditions and luminosity on traffic operations on two-lane highways in the state of São Paulo. The literature suggests that there is a reduction in capacity and level of service under inclement weather and during the night. This study will combine traffic data and weather data to assess possible changes in speed-flow curves for each condition. The proposed approach consists of the following steps: (1) literature review; (2) traffic data treatment; (3) weather data treatment; (4) data classification according to weather and luminosity conditions; (5) data merge; (6) construction of speed-flow curves for each condition and analysis of results; and (7) to write reports and a paper for a conference.(AU)
