Abstract

Leaf extracts from Eugenia uniflora and from Lippia sidoides will be obtained by sequential extraction in fixed bed, first by extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) at 60 oC and 400 bar, followed by extraction with ethanol at 60 ° C and, finally followed by extraction with water at 60 oC. Extraction curves (mass versus time extract) will be obtained in order to evaluate the performance of extraction on the yield and concentration of phenol as a function of time and type of the solvent. The essential oil will be obtained in the first step with scCO2 and, it will be evaluated as chemical profile by GC-MS and subsequent statements will be evaluated on the content of total phenols and flavonoids. For comparison, two types of aqueous and ethanol extracts will be obtained: 1) Single-Stage Extracts from the leaves with ethanol fixed bed at 60 ° C without prior extraction with water and scCO2 fixed bed at 60 ° C without prior extraction and 2) extracts by following the conventional method reported in the literature and used in earlier work, not in a fixed bed.
