Abstract

The inappropriate use of water resources in agriculture, in search of higher yields, has caused negative impacts on water supplies, reducing the efficiency of irrigated production systems. Given the potential of subsurface drip irrigation, combined with the need for research, there has been a growing demand for information on this technique, particularly with respect to the size and position of the wetted soil, and distribution of water, and nutrients. Therefore, this project aims to study, through the technique of Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), under controlled conditions, the dynamics of the solution in sandy soil, for two application rates, 1.6 and 3.8 L h-1. The objectives of the proposed project will study the formation of the wetted, evaluating the effects of the interaction soil-water-solute distribution and storage of soil solution. It is hoped that this project a better understanding of the behavior of water and nutrients in the wetted by subsurface drip irrigation.(AU)
