Abstract

The lack or excess of water during the management of the tomato crop can be detrimental to the production. Thereby, the search for technologies that improve crop productivity and reduce the volume of water applied during the crop cycle is essential for agricultural production and for the environment. The objective of this work is to evaluate the irrigation deficit in yield of Grape irrigated through subsurface drip irrigation. The experiment will be carried out in the CCA/UFSCar and will consist of three treatments with four randomized blocks. The water depth will be calculated corresponding to the replacement of 100, 75 and 50 % of water capacity of soil available (CAD). Soil moisture will be monitored by TDR probes and the effective depth of the roots by images obtained through a root scanner. Grape tomato seedlings will be transplanted onto drip lines installed at 0.20 m depth. The number of fruits per plant and productivity will be evaluated as quantitative characteristics; Diameter, length, soluble solids, fruit pH and dry mass of the leaves and stem as qualitative characteristics in relation to the proposed treatments. It's expected that poor subsurface irrigation brings satisfactory results to the yield by combining productivity and water savings by reducing losses through soil evaporation, as well as providing efficient irrigation management and, consequently, a reduction in environmental impacts.
