Abstract

The inappropriate use of water resources in agriculture, in search of higher yields, has caused negative impacts on water supplies, reducing the efficiency of irrigated production systems and fertirrigated. Due to the potential of irrigation by subsurface drip systems, coupled with the need for research on the culture of sugarcane (Saccarumoffinarum L.) irrigated by this system, that requiring expertise technical and training for its operation, -it has been growing the demand for information on this technique, regarding the distribution of water and nutrients, since these are applied directly to the root zone, becoming more readily available to plants. Therefore, this project aims to study, by the technique of Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), under controlled conditions, the dynamics of the solution in sandy soil with crop installation of sugarcane, for two application rates, 1.0 and 1.6 L h-1. The objectives proposed by the project will be used to estimate the absorption of water and nutrients by plants correlated with the distribution and storage of soil solutions. It is hoped with this project a better understanding of the availability of water and nutrients to plants of sugarcane fertirrigated by subsurface drip. (AU)
