Abstract

The decrease in chemical filter concentration in sunscreens formulations became a trend in the cosmetic market. This fact is explained by the occurrence of adverse reactions caused by topical formulations containing such components. Vegetable products are important sources of bioactive molecules. For these reasons, this project aims to (1) obtain and rutin-entrapped gelatin particles, (2) perform the physical, physic-chemical, chemical and functional analysis, (3) evaluate the cytotoxicity in vitro , develop bioactive sunscreens with in vitro and in vivo photoprotective efficacy estimated , containing protein based particle. The particles will be obtained by desolvation in two steps. The characterization of the particles will be carried through the following analysis: Determination of pH, particle size distribution, entrapment efficiency, extent of crosslinking and antioxidant activity. The safety of the particles will be evaluated by in vitro cytotoxicity. The formulations will be evaluated in relation to the organoleptic characteristics, the pH value, the apparent viscosity and in vitro photoprotective efficacy estimated by diffuse reflectance spectrophotometry with integrating sphere and in vivo by internationally recognized methodology. The results will present perspectives for the development of an innovative photoprotective and antioxidant ingredient. (AU)
