Abstract

Introduction: Children with (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder may have learning difficulties, which may be related to deficits in auditory skills. Based on the principles of neural plasticity, the Auditory Training appears as a procedure that seeks to develop or rehabilitate these skills. The software "Logiciel d'Écoute dans le Bruit" (LEB) is proving - through behavioral hearing tests - to be an efficient tool for training the skills of auditory processing, in Canadian children. Objective: To translate, adapt to Brazilian Portuguese and evaluate through auditory processing behavioral tests, the impact of a auditory training therapy . Patients and Method: First, will be done the translation and adaptation of software LEB for Brazilian Portuguese. Participants: 20 individuals with (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder, of both sexes, aged 06-09 years, divided in to 2 groups: GROUP 1: will be composed by 10 children who will receive auditory training. GROUP 2: composed by 10 subjects matched for age, who will not go through any form of therapy. Procedures: The subjects of both groups will be submitted to anamnesis, otoscopy, tympanometry with acoustic reflex ipsilateral and contralateral behavioral assessment of central auditory processing. In addition to these tests, the subjects in Group 1 will undergo auditory training. Results: The variables will be subjected to statistical analysis for comparison between groups and procedures. It is expected that the results confirm the initial hypothesis of the study, that the benefits of therapy will be confirmed at post-test. (AU)
