Abstract

This project intends to realize the chemical study of n-butanolic fraction obtained from the leaves ethanolic crude extract of Anacardium othonianum (Anacardiaceae), a native species from Cerrado Biome. This region has been selected for study within the Research Project "Chemical-biological study of vegetal species from Cerrado and Pantanal and their endophytic microbiota" (CNPq Process # 305783/2012-2). The selected fraction showed activity in in vitro schistosomicidal assay carried out by our research group. Therefore, the phytochemistry approach will be bioassay-guided on this activity. The proposed schistosomicidal test will be held evaluating the life cycle of Schistosoma mansoni vector. The analytical methodologies will employ chromatography techniques (CC and HPLC-DAD). The chemical structures of the isolated compounds will the assign on the bases of 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Thus, the main goal of this proposal will be to identify the potential schistossomicidal of natural compounds, as well as contribute to the human resource formation in the natural product area in Brazil.
