Abstract

The benefits of a regular physical activity have been cited and demonstrated in several studies. We know that there are positive results with light application to improve muscle performance and delay fatigue. However, there are few studies showing its´ effects on aerobic training. The aim of this study is to investigate whether phototherapy with lasers and LEDs with different wavelengths and outputs, with different irradiation protocol, associated to aerobic training, would enhance performance. For such, 96 volunteers of both genders will be recruited, who will take part in a program of regular aerobic exercise on a treadmill. The training will last 12 weeks and will be assessed aspects related to aerobic performance of volunteers (absolute and relative VO2max, maximal heart rate and time to exhaustion) and body composition (body fat percentage, and quantification of fat mass and lean mass).
