Abstract

The advances in genomic technologies allowed the identification of the structural variations in the genome of humans and domestic animals, such as copy number variation (CNV). The CNV have been observed as an important source of genetic and phenotypic variation for production traits and animal health. The aim of this work will be to identify regions of copy number variation in the genome of Girolando cattle and to associate these regions with milk production trait. The data set from Embrapa Dairy Cattle, Juiz de Fora, MG, will be contained 470 animals genotyped with Illumina BovineSNP50 panel (54,609 SNP), 200 animals genotyped with BovineHD Illumina BeadChip panel (786,799 SNP) and 3 animals with whole genome sequence. The analyses for CNV identification will perform using PennCNV software and RAPTR-SV. After CNVR identification, the association studies with milk production trait will be conducted and these regions will be validated by real-time PCR. (AU)
