Abstract Vehicular social networks are a promising solution to combat the problem of congestion in large urban centers. However, the use of this type of networks brings new challenges since the implementation of social-aware routing protocols up to the development of architectures. In addition, vehicular social networks applications should consider all the challenges of vehicular networks, and various requirements of users that can vary according to their location, connection time, and traffic situations. In this context, this project aims to propose a decentralized system that can minimize the congestion problem with the use of vehicular social networking as proof of concept. The system will disseminate information through carrier networks based on the users' social context information. The context information in vehicular social networks refers the information about the characteristics and the specific situation of users such as location, connection time, interest content, preferences, interactions, environmental condition, and current state of the network. For this purpose, we will employ solutions based on semantic technique to represent the users' social context information, as well as aggregation and data consolidation solution aiming to reduce network traffic and increase the quality of the information. In addition, we intend to propose incentive mechanisms for user in the adoption of vehicular social networking, since the user participation is crucial for the existence of this type of networks. | |
