Abstract

The study of new ingredients for use in diets for fish, such as algae, is a matter of great importance. Although the productive responses received great attention, it is fundamental to know the physiological and metabolic effects of these ingredients to evaluate the potential of these foods. The overall objective of the project is to evaluate the use of microalgae as an alternative and potential substitute for fish meal in the production of the seabream gilthead (Spaurus aurata). Juveniles of the seabream gilthead will be fed microalgae meal diets, containing levels of 5 to 10% inclusion. After the feeding period, the parameters of productive performance, fatty acid profile present in the liver and muscle tissues, determination of the activity of digestive enzymes (trypsin, chymotrypsin and -amylase), determination of levels of leucine activity Aminopeltidase and alkaline phosphatase. In addition to the effects on the structure and ultrastructure of the intestinal mucosa, using samples from the proximal and distal portion of the intestine and liver. Histological analyzes of the liver and intestinal tissues will be obtained from light microscope images, which will determine the area and length of the largest diameter of the hepatocytes and the height of the intestinal villi. The obtained data will be submitted to ANOVA. The realization of this project will enable the training in protocols of analysis of physiological parameters used in research projects of food evaluation. (AU)
