Abstract

The study of emotions is in relevant growth. Among the emotional categories, moral emotions are understood as a set of physiological and/or cognitive changes that stand out as consequence and maintenance of the integrity of human social structures. Some studies demonstrate the role of emotional components on moral judgement, namely: i) basic emotional processing; Ii) emotion regulation; and iii) self-consciousness emotions. Despite these findings, many gaps are still present in this topic. Thus, through three experiments, the present study aims to investigate, correlate and modulate an interface between emotions and moral development. Thus, this project has specific objectives: i) describe and correlate the development of the body's emotional self-perception and the development of moral judgment (Experiment 1); ii) investigate the effects of basic emotion modulation on moral judgment tasks related to different social groups (Experiment 2); iii) investigate the effects of emotion regulation on moral judgment (Experiment 3). The study presents different experimental tasks, the instruments of characterization of the samples and the analysis procedures, all of them being justified and adapted to the general objective and specific objectives relative to each experiment. As a central point of this project, some moral judgment tasks will involve contemporary discussions and crisis scenarios (eg, local and global conflicts with relevant impact in the number of homeless and refugee status). With this, in addition to contributions to the theoretical field with proposals of models between emotions and moral judgment, the results suggest an environment conducive to the search for solutions in contemporary and crisis scenarios.
