Abstract

The present proposal links with the thematic project titled "Epidemiological study of Dengue (serotypes1-4), Zika and Chikungunya in a cohort of São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, Brazil" (FAPESP Process # 2013/21719-3). The main goal of this proposal is to study the obtained data of the first wave of the thematic project that was developed in 2016 (results of laboratorial tests, of questionnaires and mosquito adult collections). The specific objectives are to measure and map the prevalence of dengue, zika and chikungunya occurrence in the study area; to evaluate the relationship between these prevalence and individual and context covariates; to measure and map in space and time the vector infestation; and to evaluate the relationship between the vector infestation and the dengue, zika and chikungunya prevalence. Since these phenomena were measured in space (dengue, zika and chikungunya) and space and time (vector infestation), it will be necessary to allow for correlation in space and time. In this sense, the hierarchical approach is the most appropriate way to take into account the spatial and temporal dependency of the study phenomena. Furthermore, if the zero proportions are substantial, it will be necessary to consider zero-inflated distributions. Spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal dependency and zero-inflated distribution will be considered in a Bayesian context and with the use of a recently developed approach named as INLA (Integrated Nested Laplace Approximations) that provides computationally fast and accurate results.
