Abstract

ABSTRACTIn the logic of mediatized societies, the media is seen as a structural element of social relations, economic and cultural policies. The media senses circulate between the subjects and serve as a basis for conducting debates in the public sphere, forming opinions and positions on facts and events. The informal conversation environments represent important components in the deliberative process of public exchange of arguments and justifications. The proposed research pretend to reflect about journalism's role in informal conversation environments focused on deliberation in the mediatized public sphere. To achieve this, conversational environments that have journalistic content as a support for debates between the subjects will be created, in order to investigate its influence in the formation of arguments and positions. Based on framing analysis, it is intended to obtain details about the offered journalistic contents, which will be compared to the debates' content in the future. A quantitative evaluation will be also developed through the application of questionnaires at the beginning and end of the debate, in order to observe variations in the subjects' positions. Thereby, it is expected to contribute to the studies involving media and the public sphere, developing an empirical research that serves as an illustration of the dynamics and mechanisms of the relationship between journalism, deliberation and informal conversation environments.
