Abstract

Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), native from Amazon and Orinoco River basins, has traits favorable to the cultivation system and high market acceptance. This fish is the main native species produced by national aquaculture. However, there are few genetic studies with this species, especially of genetic improvement and genomic association with traits of productive interest. The objective of this work is to characterize the performance of tambaqui C. macropomum families for resistance to Aeromonas hydrophila and growth traits, through quantitative genetics and genetic association of SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms). The parameters of quantitative genetics will be evaluated in 15 families of tambaqui (previously established at Caunesp), for traits of resistance to A. hydrophila and growth perfomance (weight, four morphometric traits and fillet yield). In relation to characterization of QTL (quantitative trait loci) for resistance to A. hydrophila and fillet yield, the SNPs mapping will be performed by ddRAD-seq (double digest restriction site associated DNA sequencing) in 10 tambaqui families. The data generated by this project, combined with studies of performance, will allow to accelerate and maximize the production of the main group of native fish, which will support in the demand and production of better quality.
