Abstract

Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) and Salmonella Typhimurium (STM) causes non-typhoidalspoultry in poultry and are often related to outbreaks of food infection in humans. In these microorganisms, the flagellar structure role an important function in the pathogen-host interaction by inducing intestinal inflammation and consequently reducing the severity of the systemic infection in birds. Among the immunological mechanisms, the humoral immune response mediated by immunoglobulin A, whose action is important for intestinal elimination of Salmonella spp. In order to elucidate the modulation of the intestinal immune response induced by bacteria expressing large amounts of flagella, five day old chickens will be inoculated with hyperflagellate mutant strains (SE ”clpP”fliD and STM ”clpP”fliD) and compared with the respective wild-type strains SE STM). Therefore, the present study is looking for to understand the immunological mechanisms involved in the immune response of the gastrointestinal tract induced by hyperflagellated bacteria through the measurement of secretory IgA levels by the ELISA technique over forty days.
