Abstract

Tobacco, despite being a legalized drug, accounts for six million deaths worldwide each year (WHO 2015). Its prolonged use leads to several chronic diseases and is therefore an international public health priority due to its great impact. There has been an increase in the base of international evidences on treatments like physical training and behavioral change that improve parameters related to the health of this public. Objectives: to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions such as physical training and behavioral change to improve health related parameters of patients with chronic lung diseases related to tobacco. Search methods: searches will be done in the Cochrane Library, Pubmed, EMBASE, CINAHL and PEDro databases. Selection criteria: this review will include randomized clinical studies on physical treatment or behavioral change directed toward chronic diseases related to smoking. Data collection and analysis: two reviewers will extract the data and independently analyze the risk of bias in the included studies. Meta-analyses will be performed using post-intervention data for those studies in which no differences were reported between the exercise and control group either. (AU)
