Abstract

The present research project aims to analyze the relations between the implementation of urban public policies, specifically the Special Zones of Social Interest (ZEIS) and a possible occurrence of socio-spatial fragmentation in the city of Presidente Prudente/SP. These relations will be evaluated considering: a) criteria adopted for the implementation of ZEIS in the city; b) relationship between the location of the current areas corresponding to the ZEIS and areas where social exclusion occurs; c) real estate typology and indicators of income and education, thus associating the ZEIS with social exclusion and, possibly, sociospatial indicators of differentiation; d) the accessibility conditions of the mapped areas, inferring the mobility of the subjects that live there, contributing to the verification of socio-spatial fragmentation; e) the spatial arrangement of the areas mapped and identified by the overlapping of the elements, indicators, and processes described above, identifying its pattern that may indicate permanence and/or changes in the center x periphery relationship, which will contribute to studies on socio-spatial fragmentation. The research methodology will consist, basically, in the compilation, organization, evaluation and cartographic representation of the data and indicators concerning the stages and objectives announced above and their correlation, via overlap, indicating the associations, thus producing analytical cartography and then synthesis cartography. For a relevant contribution to the problem, we will bring mitigating guidelines to the problem, such as the proposition of eventual relocation of the ZEIS areas, attenuating the sharpness of the existing contradictions in the urban space of the city, contributing, even though as propositions, to the right to the city.
