Abstract

In the early 1920s the international educational scene saw the pedagogical magazine The New Era (TNE), the official outreach body of the New Education Fellowship (NEF), an international association for the dissemination of New Education. Given the importance of the magazine in the process of dissemination of pedagogical knowledge in the context of New Education, taken up by NEF, the research aims to map the textual and iconographic production by TNE, between 1920 and 1930, analyze its role of dissemination of knowledge through the perspective of the transnational history of education and broaden the discussions about the presence of the Anglophone branch of Brazilian Escola Nova movement. For this endeavor, the theoretical and methodological approach will be based on the discussions established in the field of the transnational history of education, press education and pedagogical journals; and as an instrument for the organization, analysis and help in inferring the results, the ATLAS.ti software will be used. It is considered that the research will contribute to the establishment of contact points and connections that will deepen the discussions on the relationship between the English branch of NEF and the Brazilian educational field. The research aims to be part of the thematic project Saberes e práticas em fronteiras: por uma história transnacional da educação (1810- ...), process FAPESP 2018/26699-4, coordinated by researchers Diana Gonçalves Vidal (IEB and FEUSP) and Carlota Boto (FEUSP), and specifically to axis 2 of the thematic project, Sujeitos e artefatos: movimentos e vestígios, and will be supervised by researcher Diana Vidal.
