Abstract

Plinia glomerata Berg belonging to the Myrtaceae family and is known as "Cabeludinha" due to its hairy appearance, it is a native Brazilian plant widely distributed in southern Brazil. This fruit is rounded and has a yellow color with a high content of ascorbic acid when ripe. It is juicy, pleasant and slightly acidic. Unfortunately, this species is little known in Brazil. A recent study highlights its analgesic and antimicrobial properties. Species of this genus showed antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, antifungal, antibacterial and gastroprotective activity. Therefore, this project aims to evaluate the extract of the fruit of P. glomerata enriched in flavonoids for antioxidant potential, through the tests of DPPH, FRAP, NO sequestration and lipid peroxidation by the TBARS test, and anti-glycant activity through the Electrophoresis Relative Mobility (MRE) assays, determination of free amine groups and AGE fluorescence. It also aims to measure polyphenols and flavonoids in the extract. Develop and characterize the microcapsules produced with the fruit extract.
