Abstract

Dengue is a disease caused by a flavivirus, which, in addition to classic dengue, can have serious fatal consequences such as dengue hemorrhagic fever. Thus, the development of techniques for better virus detection becomes a very important research area. However, currently, dengue detection methods have limitations, such as the inability to detect in the early stages and high cost. Therefore, the purpose of this research project is the fabrication of an amperometric biosensor based on a Molecularly Imprinted Magnetic Polymer (Mag-MIP), using a specific biotinylated DNA probe for the dengue detection. Biosensors are an excellent option for the detection of dengue, as they have high sensitivity, specificity, and with the use of biomimetic materials (MIP) they will reduce costs to obtain great benefits. Thus, the use of biotinylated probes with DNA from a specific region of dengue, associated with the high molecular recognition capacity of Mag-MIP for biotin, proves to be an advantageous, faster, and low-cost way to detect the dengue virus.
