Abstract

This scientific initiation research proposal has as theme the evaluation of the mobility of outskirts women in two cities in São Paulo with distinctions in urban situation, demographic size and complexity of their spatial structures, Presidente Prudente and Salto. Our preliminary hypothesis is that the combination of peripheral and gender conditions, read from a third condition, that of mobility, is related to a distinct spatial practice and that should keep more similarities than distinctions when comparing two different urban types. The relationship between mobility conditions and socio-spatial fragmentation has been studied in depth in the thematic project to which this research proposal is related and it is believed that our specific focus, which comprises a subject-type, that is, the peripheral woman, can bring unique contribution to that project. Our central objective, therefore, is to analyze how the condition of gender combines with the needs and possibilities of mobility from the periphery of non-metropolitan urban areas. In order to carry out this investigation, we will use semi-structured interviews and followed paths, after identifying the subjects that will make up our research, chosen in peripheral areas that will be defined by socio-spatial indicators such as income, housing conditions and accessibility. It is hoped, with these procedures, to associate spatial, mobility and gender conditions with the analysis of inequality, differentiation and contribute to the study of socio-spatial fragmentation.
