Abstract

Aquaculture is only possible due to methods of producing young forms in captivity. For native migratory species, which account for about 30% of national fish farming, hypophysation (the most used method) still has flaws and the use of synthetic products is far from being a reality in attempts that produce fingerlings. Thus, the main objective of this study is to evaluate, in lambari and matrinxã, the result of hypophysation with raw lambari pituitary extract (EBHL) (patent recently deposited by the Caunesp Reproduction Laboratory (BR 10 2021 018330 6) in association with prostaglandin F2± (PGF2±) (technology also produced at the Caunesp Reproduction Laboratory) Criscuolo-Urbinati et al., 2012). As a second objective, we aim to better understand the individual and collective variations of dose-response effects observed in follicles in the face of conventional treatments and those being tested here in an unprecedented way. For this, the main therapies (crude extracts from carp and lambari pituitary and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)) and the main inducing substances (17alpha,20beta, dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (DHP) and PGF2±) will have their dose-response effects on lambari and matrinxã follicles also evaluated in vitro. The methodology to be used for in vivo and in vitro studies is detailed in a specific section of the project and is part of the routine of the research developed at the Caunesp Reproduction Laboratory. The use of exogenous PGF2± in association with the use of crude extract from the pituitary gland of a fish produced in Brazil (in place of the imported extract) can contribute to the production of this species, adding value and new products such as the pituitary extract; and make them more attractive to new and experienced farmers through greater predictability in the production of young forms.
