Graduated in Meteorology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1985), Master in Meteorology from the National Institute for Space Research (1990) and PhD in Meteorology from the University of Reading, Great Britain (1993). Senior research scientis. Expertise on regional atmospheric Modeling, with emphasis on the topics: Eta model Development, weather forecast, limited area modeling, cumulus convection parameterization, model evaluation, regional climate modeling, production of climate change scenarios over South America, climate change, climate services. Lecturer in two graduate programs in meteorology, at INPE and UFRJ. Leads research projects on regional modeling and applications. Lead author of Chapter 9 of the Working Group 1 (Working Group 1) of the IPCC AR5. Co- coordinatior of Chapter 8 of working group 1 of the first Brazilian National Assessment Report (RAN1) of the Brazilian Panel on Climate Change (PBMC) in 2011. He coordinated the production of the downscaling of climate change scenarios in Brazil to support the Brazilian Third National Communication UNFCCC and Brasil 2040 project. Participated on the preparation of the Report on Impact, vulnerability, and adaptation of the Brazilian coastal cities to climate change edited by PBMC in 2017. Acted as head of Operations Division of CPTEC in 2001-2002. Acted as head of the Earth System Numerical Modeling Division 2021. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
