Research: Julio has experience in Organic Synthesis, working mainly in the development of synthetic methodologies using enabling technologies such as flow chemistry, synthesis of APIs and new drug candidates, as well as the upgrading of biomass derivatives. Julio is an Associate Professor and Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry at UNICAMP, with research financed by FAPESP and CNPq. These projects have several national and international collaborators, and offer a multidisciplinary environment for the professional development of the students and researchers involved.Education: Julio holds a Bachelor's and Degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV, 2003), a Master's in Organic Chemistry (2005) and a Doctorate in Sciences (2009) from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), having completed a sandwich doctorate at the Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III. He was Full Researcher at the Rhodia Research and Technology Center (Solvay Group) for one year, where he worked on the development and improvement of industrial chemical processes and organic synthesis routes. From 2011 to 2014, Julio was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Chemistry at UNICAMP, under the supervision of Prof. Ronaldo A. Pilli. From 2012 to 2013 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cambridge, UK, under the supervision of Prof. Steven V. Ley, where he worked on the development and application of continuous flow chemistry.Activities: Affiliate member of the Brazilian Chemical Society, having been Regional Secretary of the SBQ Regional Campinas (2016-2018). From 2016 to 2019, Julio was Associate Undergraduate Coordinator at the Institute of Chemistry at UNICAMP, being responsible for the IQ internship program and for representing IQ-UNICAMP in the COMVEST Deliberative Chamber, among others. He is currently head of the Department of Organic Chemistry at IQ-UNICAMP (2022-20240. He also provides consultancy to companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical sector, issues technical opinions on technologies in the area of organic synthesis and also collaborates with companies in the development of new products and Law Suit.Awards: Named New Talents from Americas and Emerging Investigators by RSC Medicinal Chemistry, Reaction Chemistry Engineering and RSC Advances. He also received the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Inventors Award granted by the UNICAMP Innovation Agency, in the categories Licensed Technology and Patent Granted.
