Abstract

In the research project finished referring to the period (2012-2014- Fapesp n. 2012/03882-1)) were carried out chemical studies with the species Paepalanthus geniculatus, Tonina fluviatilis, Paepalanthus chiquitensis (synonym of Paepalanthus giganteus Sano). Studies of plant species Actinocephalus divaricatus were initiated. During the project development period, twelve papers were presented in National and International Congresses, nine papers were published in international and national Journals. Currently, are directly involved in the Project, four Master's projects and Scientific one Initiation. Two Master and four scientific Iniciation projects were carried out through grants FAPESP, CAPES and CNPq.Therefore, this project proposes to continue the study of Eriocaulaceae, but by entering the search of secondary active metabolites produced by endophytic fungi associated with aerial parts (leaves, scapes and capitulae) of the species Eriocaulaceae, starting with the species (Paepalanthus chiquitensis and Paepalanthus planifolius).Considering the current importance and relevance of natural products from fungi, we are implementing in our group, the chemical study of endophytic fungi associated with Eriocaulaceae. Knowledge of metabolites from the endophytic fungi greatly complements theThe purpose of this project is therefore perform antimicrobial and antifungal testing of ethyl acetate extracts of the aerial parts produced by endophytic fungi, starting with the species P. planifolius and P. chiquitensis. Other species may be included in the project depending on the progress and completion of studies of the species started. The criteria for selection of the extracts to be studied, and therefore be prepared on a large scale, will be the best antimicrobial and antifungal activities and those who have a higher amount of mass for purification of secondary metabolites. extensive phytochemical work that is being done for us over the past few years. The fingerprints will be recorded by HPLC-PDA, 1 H NMR and HPLC-ESI-IT-MS. The known substances shall be identified with co-injection of standards and for substances not yet isolated and identified in the literature, fractionation and purification will be achieved by chromatographic methods (Sephadex LH-20, HPLC, MPLC). The identification of substances is performed by spectroscopic and spectrometric (MS, IR, UV, NMR). Also will be made antimicrobial and fungicidal activities of the enriched fractions and pure substances can be conducted. (AU)
