Abstract

The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is known to be related to neuroprotection and neurogenesis, as well as being involved in cognition, mood, cardiovascular function and energy metabolism. BDNF plays "cross-talk" between the nervous system and immune system, which BDNF signaling pathway in lymphocytes could reflect at least in part, the same signal in the cortex, and this relationship isoform dependent. The pro-BDNF be involved in apoptotic processes, while mature-BDNF could be related to the survival and plasticity to bind to its high affinity receptor, tropomyosin related kinase B (TrkB). genetic factors, sedentary lifestyle and chronic stress have an impact on the signaling of BDNF, which may contribute to the decline of cognitive function. Recently, much has been speculated on cognition in obesity, with hypertrophy of the visceral adipose tissue (VAT) as a link of this relationship, and this may be related to reduced concentrations of BDNF, especially in sedentary obese individuals. However, recent studies have shown that acute exercise, particularly high-intensity flashing may promote increased concentrations of BDNF. However, little is known about the effects that this type of exercise can have long-term. Forward this issue, knowledge about the effects of intermittent high intensity training is incipient (HIIT - high intensity intermittent training) on cognitive function of young obese adults accompanying the anthropometric changes and imunometabólicas. To answer this question, obese adult men will be recruited and divided into two groups: HIIT (10 shots 1 minute to 100% vVO2pico for 1 minute passive rest) or control group. They will be assessed before and after 6 weeks of training on the following parameters: cognitive (memory, attention and executive function), morphological (X-ray absorptiometry dual energy and octopolar bioelectrical impedance), biochemical (cytokines anti and pro-inflammatory, lipid profile, blood glucose and insulin) and molecular (lymphocyte culture with / without BDNF stimulation, quantification of proteins and gene expression). At the end of this research, it is expected that HIIT result in higher concentrations of BDNF, this response being a consequence of changes in many of the above parameters as well as allowing an improvement in cognitive function.
