Abstract Among the native species with potential for aquaculture, stands out the tambaqui Colossoma macropomum by hardiness, ease of adaptation to the cultivation and high productivity in intensive system. Considering the lack of information about protein requirements for the species, it becomes necessary to establish the dietary requirement of this nutrient,to formulation of diets that allow, in the species, the expression of a better performance and excellent carcass traits associated with a lower excretion of nutrients to the environment and reduction of costs for feeding. Therefore, the project proposes to study, first, the determination of apparent digestibility of protein, fat and energy of six protein foods and seven energetic food , including the most commonly used in commercial diets for fish. After, a second study will aim to determine the digestible protein requirement for juvenile tambaqui in early growth. The efficiency of the diets will be evaluated by conventional parameters of performance; and methodologies intrinsic to the dynamics of muscle growth, as the histology of the development of fish muscle fibers and isotopic turnover of carbon-13 and nitrogen-15 in muscle tissue. | |
