Abstract

Considered a multifactorial disease of epidemiological features, the obesity have in bariatric surgery the most effective treatment when there is no success with only clinical intervention. As invasive procedure, bariatric surgery have no complications, which include installation of postoperative nutritional deficiencies or worsening of those that were already under way. Therefore, the nutritional counseling for obese patients undergoing bariatric surgery practice is essential to identify eating disorders and minimize errors and nutritional deficiencies or regained body weight. This project is part of the thematic study (FAPESP 2011 / 09612-3) and aims to evaluate changes in short and long term caloric intake, macro and micronutrients intake, in obese patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus after gastroplasty Reductive Y-Roux (GRYR). For this purpose, the 24-hour food recall (24HR) and the food record of 7 days (R7D) these are obtained 20 patients undergoing such surgery in the preoperative and postoperative 3 months and 1 year, and 10 of these 20 patients will also be evaluated after surgery two years. From these dietary surveys, the total amounts of calories and macronutrients and micronutrients ingested in these periods will be calculated on VirtualNutriPlus® software. The results obtained in different periods are compared statistically between them in order to detect significant changes in potential energy and nutritional intake over time. In addition, nutritional reference values (DRIs) will be used to detect possible deficiencies of these nutritional variables in the periods studied. This data is useful for identifying the worsening or recovery of macro and micronutrient deficiencies already observed in the short term (3 months) by the partial analysis of 10 patients enrolled in the protocol; or to detect the possible installation of new long-term nutritional deficiencies.
