Abstract

Phenolic compounds and flavonoids have antioxidant activity which usually has been related to the prevention of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis and anti- inflammatory processes. Plants of Byrsonima species, which belong to B. basiloba, are recognized for their antibacterial, antifungal, antimutagenic activities, among others. In order to obtain a higher content of phenols and/or flavonoids and with the greatest possible antioxidant activity, it will be done an i- optimal design for choosing the best ratio of solvent (water, methanol and ethanol) from the leaves of B . basiloba.
