Abstract

Despite the emphasis on the social and integrative components proposed by the Brazilian National Curricular Guidelines (DCN) for higher education courses in Nutrition, most undergraduate courses on the field still reproduce a system of health education based on a biological, compartmentalized and hospital centered paradigm. In order to train health professionals for insertion into the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS), a framework of theoretical and practical content has been built up, in order to allow more meaningful educational processes to take part in the formation of professionals keen to promote an integrative and universal health for patients. OBJECTIVE: To understand how nutrition students from two geographical contexts perceive the insertion of the dietitian into the Primary Health Care of SUS and what are the most significant experiences to shape this perception. METHODS: First and last year nutrition undergraduate students will be submitted to an interview in which they will be asked 3 questions thought to answer the research objective, with the purpose of developing a qualitative, exploratory study. The number of participants will be defined by saturation of responses. The Thematic Content Analysis method will be used to analyze the collected data. EXPECTED RESULTS: It is expected of this study an evaluation and discussion of the results of integrating the curriculum with the practice of the health service in the training of dietitians in relation to the DCN of the Nutrition course.
