Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the biomechanical and neurophysiological responses to different warm-up protocols resulting in post-activation potentiation. Twenty trained athletes will undergo four different warm-up protocols (squats at 91% 1RM, isometric contractions, plyometric exercises and electrical stimulation + squats at 60% 1RM) before and after performing force measurements consisting of maximal isometric contractions at a dynamometer and counter movement jumps. Electromyographic activity of the knee extensor and plantar flexor muscles will be monitored during all tests and spinal and supra spinal excitability will be measured via M-wave, V-wave and H-reflex. The order of each warm-up session will be randomized and the study will be conducted in a cross-over model. Differences between warm-ups will be assessed via two-way ANOVAs with Tukeys, post-hoc tests. (AU)
