Abstract

The São Paulo macrometropolis (MMP) is considered the largest and most important urban agglomeration in Brazil, and this region presents increasing risks of experiencing water scarcity problems. The Water Transparency Index (INTRAG) is used to evaluate the degree of transparency of management of water resources, and uses the information available electronically in the official pages of the management public agencies. This project aims to adapt the INTRAG methodology, so that the index considers issues related to the quality of the information available, and to apply the index in the context of the MMP, considering the different Units of Water Resources Management (UGRHI) that composes it. The hypothesis of this research is that active transparency in the management of water resources is currently configured distinctly in the different UGRHI that composes the MMP. In addition, the adaptation of INTRAG will be an advance in the use of this index, enabling a more accurate assessment of active transparency in the management of water resources, and the application of this index in other watersheds.
