Received the B.S. degree from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (1976), the M.S degree from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1980) and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Southampton (1989) in Electric Engineering. Since 1990 she has been with the Univesidade de São Paulo where she is a full professor in the Departamento de Engenharia Elétrica.
