Abstract
During the last 15 years, the São Paulo Research and Analysis Center (SPRACE) has consolidated its participation in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider of CERN. The present project is founded upon the successful history of SPRACE as a high energy physics group that performs physics analysis in Physics Beyond the Standard Model as well as in Heavy Ions, and operates the BR-SP-SPRACE, the first official Tier-2 of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid in Latin America. In addition to a significant fundamental physics research program in electroweak and strong interactions, during the next 5 years the SPRACE team will enhance the collaboration on scientific instrumentation, in unison with the private sector, to contribute with ambitious R&D projects for the Phase 2 upgrade of the CMS detector, promoting the transfer of these cutting-edge technologies to the Brazilian industry. Furthermore, SPRACE intends to continue the successful outreach programs that disseminate the ideas and concepts of high energy physics to high school students and the general public. (AU)
