Abstract

The unavoidable concern on the growing production of byproducts from industrial transformations led us to the development of a biological process aiming at the depollution of wastewaters from animal industrial processing. That process was effective for that purpose and also rendered the production of a red dry biomass. Previous analyses performed on Rubrivivax gelatinosus biomass produced in fish processing industry effluent as the substrate showed that the product is free of pathogenic organisms and rich in oxycarotenoids and proteins, what suggests its use in animal feeding. The purpose of this research project is to use the bacterial biomass in the feeding of broilers, laying hens and tilapia fish and investigate the effects it may cause on animals performance and products quality, as evaluated by proximate composition, pH, color, oxycarotenoids content, fatty acids profile and lipid oxidation. Animals breeding will be carried out according to defined experimental designs in the facilities of Zootechny Section, slaughter will be held in the Experimental Slaughterhouse and the analyses proposed will be performed in Food Analysis, Animal Pathology and Veterinary Clinical Laboratories, all them currently existing in Medicine Veterinary Course Campus at Unesp/Araçatuba. Additionally, we intend to investigate the economic viability of the biomass production and utilization in animals raising. This way, we intend to provide data to allow the efficient, economic and safe use of the product in animals breeding. (AU)
