Abstract

This research project will be developed by a team with a responsible researcher and two research associates, as well as its undergraduate students and graduate students. The objective of this proposal is to develop new materials for pharmaceutical formulation of transdermal (patches) and implantable systems for controlled drug delivery-based nanostructured materials, such as hybrid organic-inorganic type siloxane-polyether to release the active substances (lignans) in a controlled manner and having optical, mechanical and structural higher than those in the market. The structural features are correlated with the release profiles of the active agents to optimize the final characteristics of the devices. These matrices are prepared by sol-gel using polyethers of different molar mass. The hydrophobic / hydrophilic organic phase present in the matrix will determine control of swelling / diffusion in the release of incorporated substances. These materials are stable and non-toxic. The possibility of modulating the profile and release kinetics from these hybrid arrays, motivates us understanding of both the conceptual point of view as the possibility of preparation of multifunctional materials. Moreover, they have unique properties such as high mechanical strength, transparency, flexibility, and are insoluble in water being convenient for applications in various scientific and technological areas, including human health. It is hoped that this project allow the nucleation of a new research group at the Universidade de Franca, in the area of controlled drug release. (AU)
