Abstract

The use of flora plants as a source of active ingredients have been shown to be increasingly effective in the search for medicines. However, little has been done to turn this potential in developing new products and patents. This proposal for a post-doctoral project under the theme "Standardized Herbal for treating chronic diseases" of FAPESP, aims to give continuity to the studies with the species Mimosa caesalpiniifolia towards developing a phytotherapeutic in accordance with the requirements of current legislation. Pharmacological tests shall be carried out with the compounds already isolated from Mimosa caesalpiniifolia, once in previous project these same compounds showed promising results for the development of plant health care, with antiiflamatória and antifungal activity. The work will be transdisciplinary, with participants from various campus of UNESP and other universities (Institute of Bioscience of São Vicente, Institute of chemistry of Araraquara and Institute of Bioscience of Botucatu), UEM (Department of Pharmacy - Palafito), UNIFESP (Institute of Bioscience of Baixada Santista) and UNIFAL/MG (Food and Drug Department). A partnership with the University of Cadiz (UCA) of Spain will allow the exchange of methodologies and scientific information with Spanish group of chemists and pharmacologists in the field of product development, enriching and supplementing the objectives initially proposed by project and by this project linked to it.
