Abstract

In recent decades we could observe an increasing prevalence of dental erosion and that someproducts are being launched in the market for treating this condition. Among them, we can mention thedentifrice containing calcium silicate, phosphate and fluoride which promises the recovery of the mineral composition of thetooth with 1 week of consecutive use. However, there are no investigations evaluating wear which canoccur when compared to the erosive challenges associated with abrasion. Therefore, this study aimsevaluate in situ the effectiveness of the application of toothpaste in preventing erosive wear, considering theepisodes of erosion and / or abrasion of the enamel. Using a protocol in situ after the making of the blocksBovine teeth enamel, the surface hardness will be performed to check the samples and the analysis of the profileinitial. Therefore, the samples will be distributed in intraoral devices to be used by 12invited participants previously selected. The study groups will be: GI erosion and use of toothpastecalcium silicate (REGENERATE Enamel Science "); GII + erosion and abrasion use of toothpaste with silicatecalcium (REGENERATE Enamel Science "); GIII erosion and use of elmex® EROSION PROTECTION toothpaste; GIVerosão+ Abrasion and use of elmex® EROSION PROTECTION toothpaste; GV erosion and use of Colgate toothpasteMaximum anticaries protection; GVI- erosion + abrasion and use of toothpaste Colgate Maximum anticaries protection ;.GVII - erosion without application of toothpaste; GIX- erosion + abrasion without application of toothpaste. The study will be4 cross conducted on 7-day phases with a pause of 7 days between phases. In both phases voluntaryapply the dentifrice in the specimens studied twice daily (morning and evening) and the abrasion of the groupsBrushing is performed for all groups take place following the device immersion in acidic drink 4times a day for 5 minutes. The results will be evaluated by perfilométrica analysis (initial and after cyclingerosive) by means of graphical and subjected to appropriate statistical analysis overlapping, considering the factorsstudied. The significance level for all tests will be 5%.
