Abstract

Team sports, like handball, are characterized by the complex relations (cooperation and opposition) between players. Such relationships have an unpredictable scenario that, throughout the process of teaching and learning, must be contemplated from different choices made by coaches. The three main teaching approaches related in Brazil are technique approach (emphasizing technical aspects), teaching through games (emphasizing tactical aspects) and teaching through games situations (emphasizing both technical and tactical aspects). In this context, the analysis of teaching approaches in different teams seems to be relevant, especially in under-14 and under-16 teams, which may be considered as a transition of sports initiation to the sport specialization. Therefore, the aim of this research project is to identify and analyze the teaching approaches used by coaches in under-14 and under-16 teams of the two main Leagues of São Paulo State. We will adopt qualitative research with semi-structured interviews, to identify coaches' speeches about the teaching approaches. The interviews will be transcribed verbatim and tabulated according to the collective subject discourse (CSD) method. (AU)
