Abstract The aim of the project propose for the scholarship program is to improve the knowledge about nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectral processing (including binning), metabolite identification and statistical analyses of semi-quantitative and quantitative NMR metabolomics data. The main activities that will be undertaken at AgResearch are dived in three phases: 1) Spectral processing and data analysis of data set from research project in Brazil. Around three hundred raw spectra of plasma and meat from Nellore bulls with divergent EPD for growth will be processed and statistically analyzed. 2) Confinement odour in New Zealand lamb meat. This study was conducted at AgResearch in 2016, and the meat from those animals will be analyze by NMR and statistical analyses of semi-quantitative and quantitative NMR metabolomics data will be performed. 3) Unlocking value of the whole carcass. This is other project that will be performed in the AgResearch and explore the investigating opportunities for underutilised parts of the carcass. The work includes metabolite profiling of parts of the carcass from several livestock classes, e.g. bobby calves, bull beef, sheep and culled dairy cows. The blood and meat metabolite analyses will use the high field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR; Bruker Avance 600 NMR spectrometer; Bruker Corporation, Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany). The plasma and meat samples for the proton NMR analysis were prepared as specific methodologies, and data will be analyze mainly by Chenomix software. The results of three steps of this project is highly likely to be publishable in a journal like Meat Science. (AU) | |
