Abstract The magnitude of Brazilian agro-industrial production causes concern about the amount of waste generated. These have important properties, beneficial to human health, which can be exploited in integrated chemical platforms, the biorefineries. Mango (mangifera indica L.) is produced on a large scale in Brazil and traditionally processed in manufactured products, whose residues are not yet properly utilized. Thus, this project has as main objective to develop, optimize and apply methods to extract bioactive compounds, such as mangiferin and hyperoside, from mango waste produced in the state of São Paulo, considering the principles of Green Analytical Chemistry. Using chemometrics for the planning of experiments, different extraction methods considered greener and more sustainable, like the based on solid phase matrix dispersion (MSPD) and the microwave (MAE), will be tested and analyzed, and the analytes will be determined by liquid chromatography (UPLC) coupled to the PDA/UV-Vis detector. In addition to the best analytical parameters, it will be possible to compare which extraction techniques are greener, using specific metrics for this purpose. | |
