Abstract

Associated with a large number of diseases, obesity is directly related to the development of metabolic and endocrine disorders that have severe consequences such as peripheral insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Seventy-one species of medicinal plants are used in the Brazilian public health system, due to cultural and traditional use for the treatment of diseases related to obesity. The avocado is a sheet of such medicinal plants that contain bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids, which are able to decrease the inflammatory subclinical obesity in order to improve the action of insulin in type 2 diabetes. The avocado pulp oil despite now marketed in the XXI century, already has records of positive effects on human health with the potential to reduce the effects of Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, because it contains carotenoids, phytosterols and monounsaturated fatty acid in quantity higher than that of olive oil. Not only bioactive compounds from plants and oils are important in the treatment of obesity and its comorbidities. A balanced diet associated with physical activity potentiate the beneficial effects on metabolic recovery and help promote weight reduction, improvement of the inflammatory and oxidative improves insulin action and glucose uptake, and is the initial treatment for Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Within this scope, this paper aims to evaluate the effect of oil pulp, leaf tea of avocado Hass variety and physical activity in obesity and subclinical inflammation of male Wistar rats fed high-fat diet from weaning to adulthood.
