Abstract

This project proposes the development of analytical methods for the determination of protein biomarkers for the diagnosis of diseases as cancer and Alzheimer's. To achieve this goal a new full disposable microfluidic device to work with eight to twelve independent carbon electrode will be developed that will allow the multiplexed detection of protein biomarkers. This device will be constructed using low-cost equipment and materials, and it will be used simple microfluidic system using a syringe pump and a chromatographic valve for the sample injection. The analytical methods will be developed using magnetic particles heavily decorated with primary antibody and enzymatic labels for capture, separation, preconcentration of the analytes and signal amplification. With this, we expected to develop analytical methods for multiplexed determination of biomarkers with very low limit of detection, high selectivity and low-cost. The project has also the objective to produce papers in high-impact journals and primarily contribute to formation of high quality human resources for research. (AU)
