Modern agriculture can no longer be based on the intensive use of agricultural inputs that affect the environment. In this way, researchers, farmers and consumers must evolve towards ecologically and economically satisfactory production, in addition, new technologies must be adopted in order to optimize productivity while maintaining sustainable environment base. In this sense, there is a search for more sustainable practices to meet the premises of integrated pest and disease management in agriculture. Based on this scenario, this thematic proposal aims to elucidate the mechanisms of action and toxicity of systems based on micro and nanotechnology for pest control in agriculture, as well as to study the fate of these systems in the environment, with the intention of producing scientific knowledge necessary for understanding of the phenomena and processes that govern its biological activity. It should be emphasized that the present project has a strong multiplier character in the area of micro/nanotechnology in the scientific environment, due to the large number of research groups and institutions involved with the topic. In addition to the proposed scientific impact, we emphasize that the proposal, due to the participation of researchers, teachers, undergraduate and graduate students, will certainly have a great impact on the dissemination and improvement of the methods used, aiming at the use of more sustainable practices for pest control and diseases in agriculture.
